Can you get carbon monoxide poisoning through propane fueled heaters?

We have propane fueled heat and we have all been getting sick lately! I took my daughter to hospital adn they ran tests for everything and it came back the flu! But we all keep getting sick! we only have propane fuel running eveything!

yes

If you suspect the propane heater, you may be on to something.

Seiously-------->>>>Please Call your fire department to come out with their meter to test the air for gases..... Do not play around with this as it is deadly and often misdiagnosed as a cold/flu simptoms.

This can be a VERY serious problem because by time you realize you are getting effected by Carbon Monoxide (Odorless and colorless poisonous gas), you could pass out and possibly die.

I would also recomend a Carbon Monoxide detectore...available almost everywhere for about $15 -20.

Just a quick tip, CO is a product of combustion. That means anything, including propane, that burns will produce carbon monoxide. I suggest that you invest in carbon monoxide detectors. Preferably ones with a digital readout. They are a little more expensive, but they are worth it. How can you put a price on you and your family's safety, right? Just keep in mind that CO detectors are only good for 3-5 years, so you must replace them. If you get symptoms such as headache, fatigue, nausea, dizziness, confusion, and even flushed skin, call 911 immediately. These are all symptoms of CO poising and you need oxygen.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!! Carbon monoxide is produced when ANY fossil fuel is burned. Gas,diesel, kerosine, coal, and other fuels like alcohol and yes even wood will eventually produce enough carbon monoxide to kill you !!! The solution is to have enough fresh air intake to combat excess CO 1. Play it safe. When in doubt, Put it OUT!!! If I were you I would buy a $19.99 Carbonmonoxide sensor and put it away from fresh air intakes (like doors or windows) and low to the ground (as it is a heavy gas and accumulatesfrom the ground up) and see what happens!!!! Take care and take the $19.99 gamble!
