Can u still get poisoned with carbon monoxide....??

when u dont use the gas fire or is it just a lower or the same risk as someone who does use it??

I know this sounds like a daft question but was just thinking about them two kids what got kill because of poisoning and i havent had my fire checked in ages.. I dont use it that much so does that mean its v...unlikely

Thanks in advance

Carbon Monoxide is a prodoct of combustion so you will not be at risk if your fire is not lit. It is a colourless, odourless and tasteless gas that interferes with the ability of the blood to transport oxygen. If you are worried have your appliances checked by a registered engineer.

Unless its being used there will be no carbon monoxide. You need to get it checked asap, and get a carbon monoxide detector it could save your life if there is a problem.

have the device safety checked for deposits BEFORE you use it. Have a PROFESSIONAL do this--not some buddy who "knows everything". It's YOUR life you would be risking otherwise.

Yes if you breath in too much it can kill you.
Lik when you go in a caravan (big static ones) doesn't really happen often but, wqhen wee boooked a caravan for on holiday, it had a leak in the boiler and it was carbon monoxide and if we didnt ask to change caravans it most probably would have killed us / made us very ill.

so yeah it can kill you but like you should get it checked but your''l ure know if something is wrong with it because it really smells gassy and that.

hope i helped _ x

What do you mean?
Do you use it or don't you?

Carbon Monoxide is created by fosil fuels not burning completely and instead of forming CO2 form CO.

Appliances that burn gas which are dirty or fired up and don't allow enough Oxygen to the flame will be the worst offenders.
Yellow flames are a tell tale sign of poor burning.

Get your fire or any gas burning appliances checked if you have any intention of using them AT ALL!!.

Don't use it until you've had it checked by a corgi registered person (look in yellow pages)

Buy a carbon monoxide detector.
If you can't afford a proper alarm, get a colour change one until you've saved up enough for the alarm type, but do get the alarm type as soon as you can.
(if a fault develops in the boiler at night you won't see the colour change type, but you will here the alarm type.)

It is sensible to have all gas fires and appliances checked regularly. If they are mis-set and incomplete combustion occurs, usually resulting in a yellow flame. then carbon monoxide is produced. It is also possible to buy fairly cheap carbon monoxide detectors at most DIY stores. Prevention is however always better than cure, get the gas board to perform a check, it will probably be free if you explain your concerns.

have it checked what ever the cost cheaper than a funeral
