Types of carbohydrates?

does anyone knows what type of food contains carbohydrates? can you give me a list of high and low carbs? also a list of which foods contain protein. I want to start doing a well balance diet, because i go to the gym but i don't always eat good, so i want to start doing it. thank you

Nearly all foods----except meat---have carbs.
The higher a sugar content (or, in other words, the more processed) a food is, the higher BAD carbs it has.

I am diabetic, so I HAVE to count carbs--they affect blood sugar like nothing else!

Here's a few rules:
The closer to nature a food is, the better it is for you...apples are hugely high in fiber and low-cal------they are like the perfect food!!!! I try to eat 2 every day---they keep my blood sugar level steadier...

Raw food, colorful food, food high in fiber....that's the key!

For protein, you need nuts or meat. Choose low-fat meat, like chicken or fish, or even good cuts of pork. Flavor them with herbs or marinades and avoid salt..
Good luck to you---you will live a long life eating wisely...

There are simple carbs and complex carbs. You don't need simple carbs AT ALL. Simple carbs include anything that's high in sugar such as sweets, soda, soft drinks, etc. . .Don't confuse sports drinks as a soft drink. Sports drinks don't contain alot of simple sugars so you can still drink them. However, I would suggest that you only stick to water.

The other type of carb is a complex carb. You need complex carbs. Complex carbs include whole wheat products like whole wheat bread, whole wheat cereal, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, and most grains.

The big thing that all gym rats need is protein. You should get about .7-1 gram of protein per pound of lean body mass. So if you weigh 100 pounds you need 70-100 grams of protein. High protein foods include most meat products and dairy products. With that being said, you don't need meat to get protein. For example, the only type of meat that I consume is fish but I still get the amount of protein that I need from whole wheat products, whey protein, tuna, eggs, milk, and you get the picture.

Now you may be asking yourself "How much do I need?" That depends on your goals.

Fill this calculator out and you'll get a picture of how much of everything you need: http://nutrition.about.com/library/bl_nu...
