Do you see more carbohydrates in overweight or fit people?

My personal trainer says that during a fast your body consumes carbohydrates.... and that if you don't have enough your brain doesn't work...

At first I was going to say, this was not accurate, and then I read what was said by responder #1. He is correct. In a fast, there are no carbohydrates to consume, so that body uses the stored fat. However, I do not think that is what you asked.

I think you are asking do fit people eat less carbohydrates than overweight people. I would say that fit people eat less of everything than overweight people. This is particularly true with fats, not carbohydrates. This is of course my opinion.

The reason I have this opinion is that I am overweight. I recently started a diet where I am limiting myself to 1800 calories per day, 15 grams of fats per meal, and 45 grams of fat per day. I have been amazed to find out that I am full and cannot seem to get all 1800 calories eaten in the day. I attribute this to the fact that there are more calories in a gram of fat than a gram of carbohydrates. This means, I can eat more grams of carbohydrates in a day than the total grams of food I ate in the past. And, this means I fill up faster.

So, I attribute the overweight people to an unbalanced form of eating. (Fast food is full of fats). They have an over abundance of eating both fats and starches and an unbalance of eating vegetables.

I hope this helps.

it is true. after 3 days of no carbs your body will turn fat into ketones. it will use those ketones to fuel your brain cells. this is called being in ketosis. your body uses fat for energy instead of carbs. this is why low carb diets work so well.
