If I stop taking in carbohydrates and try to use the treadmill, would I stop growing?

I'm a 16-year-old Filipino boy, 5'11'' tall and weighing around 170 lbs. How often in a week should I use the treadmill? Should I try weightlifting? Should I stop taking in carbohydrates as a part of a high-protein diet? Would I still grow?

You'll still grow if you're getting enough nutrition and calories. You can stunt your growth if you damage your growth plates from doing excessive treadmill or weighlifting, but most people would wear about before getting to this point! Go for it. Wouldn't recommend stopping carbohydrates though - this kind of diet offers no benefit over the traditional diet of decreasing calories and increasing exercise.

I would not recommend stoping carb intake. Carbs are converted to sugars that your muscles use for energy.

No carbs, no energy.

As for the the high protein, this can put undo pressure on your liver, since your liver has to filter all the protien you don't use.

If I were you, I would eat a well balanced diet and plan your meals according to your work out regimen. If you need serious input, I would recommend contacting a dietician.

The body needs complex carbs (not refined ones). Carbs found in whole grains, legumes, vegetables, etc., are the carbs that you need, especially considering that you are still growing. The right carbs also provide fiber--good for overall health, including the heart! Staying away from refined carbs (sugar, processed foods, etc.) will serve you well.

As for the treadmill, I would only feel comfortable in commenting on using it in "walking" mode. Many people walk 30 minutes a day; the treadmill, in this fashion, is the same thing.

Regarding "running" on the treadmill or weightlifting, that's a personal choice--but you should probably consult a doctor beforehand, just to "walk" on the side of caution. At the very least, I would consult a professional in a gym before striking out on your own.
