UK Food Labels: Carbohydrates....(of which sugars).....? |
I am following Rose Elliot's Low Carb Vegetarian Diet however it is not clear in her book how to read UK food labels. In the USA the Carbs are labelled "Total Carbs" and then after calculating the fibre content give the remaining "Net Carbs". In the UK the labels read "Total Carbs" and then "Of which sugars". In the United Kingdom fibre is shown separately than carbs. They are seperate things on our labels. There are 2 types of carb glucose which is in fruit and starch which is in bread and pasta and things like that. starch is worse for you. |
