Cannabis worry?

I was a heavy cannabis user 2 years ago. I smoked alot of joints in a day sometimes over 10. It got to the point were i couldnt get high any more it was like topping up. I have given it up for 2 years now however i still feel really drowsy, not as shard as i was before smoking it. My concentration is bad as with my coordination. Does any one know why Im still suffering from it? I have been sober for 2 years. Cheers

YOu are tired because you are depressed.

go and smoke another joint.....

I believe it does have some permament neurological effects, especially bad for your memory. I don't know if it ever stops, because I have not quit.

Glad to hear you are clean and sober. But you probably did a lot of damage with all the marijuana you did. It does kill brain cells and they don't ever come back.

Maybe you are ill, you sound like you are run down,go to the docs for a check up t make sure you are ok, and it will probably pass lots of people feel like this.

It's because it burns out your neuroreceptors. Some of your brain cells are dead. Your brain can get around those areas, but it takes longer, and those areas themselves are now totally and irrevocably gone. The cells are there, but the receptors just don't fire anymore. That's what happens. You can never change it.

Get some exercise - I ain't had none of those problems and I have been off it for nearly 5 years now

well that is a lot of pot! i would not think it should effect a persons body so harsh. people build tolerance but i dont think you can really smoke yourself into a stooper. how old are you? you may just be suffering a form of dementia or the onset to alzheimers. i would go to a doctor and have a complete physical and MRI. you need to seriously find out what is wrong! stay away from the reefer!

It's not the weed. I am 45 years old. I smoked it from the time I was around 13 or so to around the age of 43. Although in the latter years it was very very seldom. But when I was younger I smoked quite a bit. I never had this kind of problem. I think that some of the news about cannabis that is out there and the damage it does it quite misleading. I have all my full capacities and am as sharp as ever. You need to go to the doctor, sounds like something else.

Because the high that you feel whenever you take drugs or drink is your brain getting injured. Slightly, sure, but injured nonetheless. Over time, too many of these injuries decrease your brain's ability to work. I'm tired of hearing how pot is "harmless". I know way too many people who are slow and dull because of years of smoking pot. The most common drawback to pot is what you have explained, how it stops working. It's not a myth, most people who are addicted to pot switch to heavier drugs. If you didn't, congratulations, but I bet that you have.

Lets hope all the teenagers reading this will read and absorb what you have just said, things are illegal for a reason.

Congrats on the 2 year strike and keep it up! I hope to be doing that soon too! I don't know much information about it (i've only been smoking for less than a year soooo... yeah... I'm still new to it)
HOWEVER it seems that you probably got the answer you needed but my roommate knows more about drugs than any other person I've ever met! When all of us were writing about stupid pointless crap in highschool and college, she wrote about drugs! Weed is a part of her daily life and she would be able to tell you tons!!!!!!!
She's on myspace so I'll get the contact info.
BTW... don't do what "Robthomas" said and go the the Scientology center! Do you really want to go "purify your body" by the anti-christ?
Have a great day!

a lot of people who smoke pot, use alcohol regularly are actually self medicating themselves and are not concisely aware of it. they often suffer from conditions like depression, bipolar disorder, and/or ADHD. they believe the substance is the problem, and when they quit, find that certain problems do not go away. some of your symptoms indicate you may want to consider this. talk to your doctor, or a mental health professional. cheers, best of luck.

Scientology ? What does a funny religion have to do with it. As for purification at thier funny church, well your liver should see to any body detoxification. Personally any effects from using dope wore off with me. I think it did take a few years to do so. I do think the stuff can cause, or accentuate depression. As for permanent damage, well if there is it did not stop me getting a comercial pilots licence. I will say I am anti drug now.

I agree with Birdlegs ... I'm 42 been doing it since I was 16 and all my capacities are still fully functional. There is far too much media coverage at the moment, alcohol does more damage to your body than dope does and I can prove it!

I would say don't take anything verbatim, a lot of people out there have got agendas for you or other people. Exercise is a good idea trying to eat healthy is also a good idea no matter how many times you lapse i always find cutting out junk food helps to clear my mind. Cutting back on coffee (or cutting out) etc helps as well. Sipping water is good. How did you start, find something to get interested in a hobby or something if you haven't got any other preoccupations, its a good may of making Friends.

Unfortunately as well as increasing the risk of depression and schizo-affective disorders including schizophrenia this crappy, addictive stuff causes physical brain damage.

In chronic users it apparently, almost inevitably, causes some degree of brain atrophy (shrinkage). This produces or accelerates dementia. This type of damage is not reversible.

See your GP who may wish to refer you to a neurologist.

Try a detox programme and a get away from everything so you can relax and concetrate on being healthy.

Lots of excercise, water and a healthy diet will also make you feel better.

Cannabis can cause paranoia and a lot of health issues, even after two years it can still take it's toll on you.

i gotta say some of these answers are ridiculous , my nephew was an intelligent, happy , funny, kind, gentle , young man till at the age of 15 was diagnosed with schizophrenia, this we believe was brought on by using cannabis , though the medical profession will not say either way ,something i am ashamed to say i too did as a kid, but i was lucky. we went through years of upset and worry for my nephew who is still ill , and we are wondering if he will ever lead a normal life , unlikely as day to day he struggles to concentrate and have a normal conversation. i have read alot about the illness and its causes, also other side effects which can actually affect you for years after, so well done on giving up , i hope you get nothing more than your present symptoms, and i hope you stay off it . well done.

i personally have been a heavy smoker aswell

but i find that im more calm and less shaky (i had some severe anxiety problems)

but now i can do everything the same/or better than i was able to before

and

did u use any other drugs that might have caused this?

it stays in your body for life. do the purification rundown at a scientology center if you want to rehab the body.
