Should cannabis be legalized??

Im not saying completly legalized here
I think it should be put on prescription for old people with arthiritis and people that are in pain
My nan had terrible arthiritis and her ankles are swollen so she cant walk very far
the pain killer given dont do anything for her
but cannabis does!!!
i think it should be legalized in this way!!
what do you think??

Legalize it.
Don't criticize it.
Legalize it and I will advertise it.

I find it completely RIDICULOUS that it is illegal. Vioxx has killed THOUSANDS of people http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6192603/ and it is still on the market. NO ONE has ever died of a marijuana overdose. It is ALL political. I think that within the next 10-15 years it will be decriminalized and this part of history will be looked back upon and laughed at just like the Prohibition is now.

If anything I think it should be de-criminalized...

legalize! let the grannys get stoned!

Maybe for medicinal reasons, but not in any other way. I've been smoking it for around 11 years now, and I don't want to pay tax on it, or queue up in a shop to buy it. I think it should be decriminalised instead.

at least some form of it should on prescription yeah, i agree

The problem with cannabis is that there are far more negative effects than good ones. There are painkillers that get the job done, if standard ones don't work, go and see a doctor for something stronger.

The arguments for prohibition are slim. Cannabis should be available for medical use - although smoking it is probably not the safest way of applying it. It should also be available for people who want to rot their brains with it, provided they stand outside with the nicotine addicts. Just put enough tax on it to cover the burden on the health service and economy.

Yes! Personally, I don't smoke. But if you want to, who the hell are we to tell you not to?

No it should not. The side effects can be too bad. If it was made legal on prescription some of these "nice" old people would sell it on the street. My mother-in-law would

Cannabis, like many mind-altering drugs, is harmful; however, its pleasant side-effects are a constant temptation to self-harm.

This does not stop it (potentially) having medical properties which could be very useful. Nothing strange about this; opium, heroin etc. and a long list of others come into the same category.

The answer is obvious. When researchers have done their work, preparations of cannabis could quite sensibly be added to the pharmacopoeia. I'm all for such a reaearch programme - anything that helps is welcome, especially when the raw material is as cheap and available as hemp.

None of this would stop governments putting cannabinoids on the presciption only list and banning unofficial sales - doubtless with the same success as now.

Theres enough drugs like alcohol and fags floating around without adding to the misery - It's a fact that if we tried to legalise alcohol and cigarrettes nowadays we would not stand a chance - lets face it - with the current research they say that cabbabis leads to longer term psychological problems - do we really want to open those particular floodgates?

I know people who have smoked it for 30 years with no bad effects.

No , whats the piont of banning smoking and then legalising cannabis. Theres far better pain relief out there without frying your brain.

It should not, and if many people had their way cigarette tobacco would be banned as well!

Cannabis increases the risk of depression, paranoia and schizophrenia. All chronic users experience a degree of brain atrophy = shrinkage, this accelerates and produce dementia so your gran should beware!

Yes it should be legal,it use to be legal in the 1940s.It is alot safer than drinking and pain killers not as addictive,The goverment wont legalize it because of the drug companies,it is so good for so many health problems like migrines headaches, back pain, eating disorders nausea the list goes on,at least your nan will get some relief.booze which is legal causes alot more problems than pot ever could and has no medical purpose.

only after medical trials prove it is safe-

cannabis can bring a whole lot more damage than good , yes it can make pain more bearable but it also has some damaging effects on the mind so i would say no i don't think it should be legal
