Memory and cannabis usage? |
When I was in school, remembering things I had learned was easy. My teachers used to say, here goes the cliche, I had a mind like a steel trap. When I was 17 I began using cannabis, and often I might add. After ten years of heavy usage I quit cold turkey and it has been 1 year and 2 days since I last used, however, I feel like I don't have the memory I once had. In fact I can state emphatically that this is the case. Most kids I know that smoke weed, complain of not being able to remember what they are supposed to be learning in school. If they quit smoking, then they can remember stuff. But I don't know about someones memory if they smoked to a long time. I would think it would have come back to you by now. There's still hope. Try some Ginko Biloba I don't remember. Im no doctor, but i researched this myself after i did a bit of cannabis while at school. I found that i was more alert than ever after i had just taken it, however after a couple of weeks of being off it, like you say, cold turkey, i found i couldnt concentrate on things for long periods of time. To put it simply, if you have triggered some kind of mental illness you probably wont ever be the same. It doesnt sound like you fit into this category, which leads to the second possibility. Your mind will need time to recover and depending on the regularity and time period of which you smoked your mind will eventually repair itself. You can assist this by drinking tea and video games funnily enough. Keep in mind you smoked while your brain was developing and there that you will never be at the prime brain function age of 17 again. Best of luck though. MY SISTER AND BROTHER IN LAW ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS REMEMBERING THINGS FROM DRUG USE. IT CONTINUES TO GET WORSE SINCE THEY HAVE NOT STOPPED THE USEAGE. My older brother had heavy usage from the time he was about 14 until he has his children, so 24. He has the worst memory in the world and he's the first to admit it. One day he even forgot that he had been over earlier. |
