hey i just got my first canker sore, it isnt too painfull unless it gets touched, but i was wondering if it is contagious and abou how long it will usually last Canker sores (ampthous ulcers) are not contagious. yes they are contagious so dont kiss or have others drink after you...you an over the counter canker sore chapstick type medication and it should go away with a few days to a week. It is contagious depending what you mean by a canker sore. On the lips...this is normally Herpes type I...this is contagious, more so during an outbreak but contagious even when the skin is intact. I would seek a doctor's advice\medication for this type. In the mouth, this is normally an aphthous ulcer which is not contagious and we don't know what causes them. Try this topical stuff that numbs it and reduces healing time...it's called "Kanka" and it really does work nicely...follow the directions on the package...good luck!!! |
