Canker Sore?? |
I posted a question up about a couple of days ago about what I thought was an Abscess. BUT, sadly it's NOT. I think I've figured out what it is but I'm NOT quite sure. It just popped up all of a sudden friday morning! I haven't been doing any "illegal activity" w/ my mouth (b4 you even JUMP to conclusions) . It was just "there" friday morning. It's NOT as painful as it was b4 I started to gurggle w/ warm salt water. But it is painful, it made it hard to speak or eat! Certain foods irritate the h3ll out of it! I'm NOT sure if it is a Canker Sore, but it looks like it's open (it's NOT huge or anything) BUT it's kinda white and looks red and inflammed around the white part. I have Tetracylcine and I've been taking that along w/ gurggling w/ warm salt water and a little vinegar. How long will it take to go away if it is a Canker Sore?? Does it sound like a Canker Sore?? I am familiar with canker sores.................go to the store and purchase "Campho Phenique". It comes in a very small bottle similar to the size of a bottle that iodine would come in. It is a clear liquid. You apply it with a cotton swab ONLY (ONLY!!) to the sore. You do not swallow the medication. Just apply to the sore. It tastes bad, but it should cure your sore. I've used it for many years when I needed it and my 3 kids...and hubby. My kids are ages 23, 25, and 28 now. Good luck to you and I hope this works well for you. Remember, it does taste bad but only put it directly on the sore, then close your mouth and let it seep in.....don't swallow it. You described a canker sore perfectly! Rinse w/ warm salt water, skip the vinegar. You can buy OTC Oraljel to put on it. It kinda coats and numbs it until it heals. You can get an Rx from your dentist for a topical steroid that helps it heal faster. Try OTC med Zylactin Canker sores (apthous ulcers) respond best to a corticosteroid ointment (triamcinalone) in a waterproof base. Moisten the end of your finger, dip it into baking soda and rub it on the canker sore. you can also rinse your mouth with one tsp baking soda to 1/2 glass of water. Also yogurt helps. Don't do the fruit kind of yogurt as the acid in fruit can burn. Listerine also helps. Just rinse with it. |
