Canker sore question. Please help.?

I've started rinsing and swishing warm water and baking soda in my mouth to help with the canker sore and I've noticed RIGHT after rinsing the sore looks so clean, then like an hour later there's some bright white stuff that forms over it. What is that? Does it mean the canker sore is NOT healing? Please help!

Also, I went to the doc and he told me to use Orajel and I got the kind for mouth sores and NOT tooth sores, is that good or bad?

Orajel is for the discomfort only, it will not heal the sore. I often use an antacid (Mylanta or Maalox) to aid in healing. It reduces the acid in the mouth, heals my sore quickly, and you can swallow it.

The white stuff is dead skin no harm its healing.
The orajel you got is fine.
Try rinsing with peroxide it will go away much faster

Go to the health food store get some L-lysine pills. I think they even sell them at Walmart. Trust me they work fast and great! Best thing out there for canker sores!

The best treatment for canker sores is hydrogen peroxide. Sounds weird but I swear by it.

Swish some around the sore for about 1 minute 3 times a day and those sores will be gone in 2 days, but do not swallow the hydrogen peroxide because it could really upset your stomach. It won't kill you, just make you feel like s**t.

It's also wonderful if you have a toothache.

You may be asked to "swish and swallow" or "swish and spit" medicine. This means that you swish around medicine in the mouth, especially around your pain canker, for a few minutes before swallowing or spitting it out.

If your doctor has to use a drug to put on the canker pain, the pain should be dry with a tissue. Next, put a small amount of medicine in a cotton swab (like a Q-Tip). Then put the medicine in its canker pain using cotton swab. Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes. If it does, the medicine will be washed away. Be sure to use medication for as many days as her doctor.
