I got one canker sore, and now my GF doesn鈥檛 want to get near me. What can I do? |
The first time I ever got a canker sore was when I got braces. Every time I went to the dentist to have my braces tighten, I would get a canker sore the days after. I was so scared the first time, I got checked, and the results came out negative. I didn鈥檛 have either herpes simplex which is the type most people have or the genital type. I鈥檝e haven鈥檛 had braces in 4 years, and coincidentally, I haven鈥檛 had a canker sore in 4 years. I went to the dentist last week, and she told me I needed some fillings, I got the fillings. Two days ago I began getting this burning sensation, and yesterday, it happened. I have a canker sore right next to the tooth I had work done. Wikipedia says the physical trauma from dentistry can lead to canker sores. I鈥檝e explained all this to my GF, but she still acts like I have some sort of sexually transmitted disease. What can I do? I can't tell you about your girlfriend, bit I know a thing or two about canker sores. I used to get them before I started taking vitamin C every day. It also cured my athlete's foot. The best thing for a canker sore is gentian violet. You can buy it without a prescription but you may have to ask for it. They frequently keep it behind the counter. It's cheap and they don't sell much of the stuff, so why waste shelf space? It's like purple ink. Put it on the canker and then rinse your mouth out. The gentian violet will adhere mainly to the white part of the canker. You have to reapply it if you eat. You'll feel much better. Are you SURE it's just a canker sore? You may want to visit a dermatologist to get a definitive diagnosis - if it's Herpes Simplex 1 or 2 she is justified in staying away from you. |
