Canker sore/cold sore??

Okay so whats the difference between these two? I know there isno cure for cold sores & that they are a strain of herpes but is ther a cure for canker sores? Are they a herpes virus strain too? If you get a canker sore once will you always get them? Just curious as I saw a canker sore question on here & it dawned on me I really have no idea what they are. Thanks

In a nutshell, canker sores are painful ulcers, or open sores, on the inner membranes of the mouth and cheek that can resemble pimples on the tongue. Canker sores are not considered to be contagious and are of uncertain origin.

Cold sores, on the other hand, are small red blisters that generally affect the mouth and facial areas, but usually appear on the lip and outer edge of the mouth. In contrast to canker sores, cold sores are extremely contagious and are most often caused by the Herpes Simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). More importantly, when oral herpes lesions and/or its contents come into direct contact with the genital area through oral-genital sex, genital herpes most likely will develop.

herpes?

here's a cool web site about canker sores.. check it out

I think they are the same thing. Unfortunately, there is no cure.

You know all you need to know already. Cankers and cold sores are exactly the same thing - a strain of the herpes virus.

No, you won't get them forever. Your contraction of cankers will taper off, most likely. I used to get them when I was younger and now I don't get them at all. I haven't had one in over fifteen years.

Canker sores and cold sores are NOT the same thing. Believe guardianx.

ok. canker sore is a painful abcess inside the mouth - usually behind upper or lower lip. non-contagious.

cold sore is caused by herpes virus AKA herpes simplex.
appears on the lip itself, or around outside of mouth. starts out as small blisters which rupture and then crust over. takes about 2 weeks to heal. veeerrrrry contagious, but u knew that.:)

everybody gets cankers now and then, usually when u are run down. no cure, but swishing vinegar around in your mouth will speed healing - just hurts like hell;)
