Canker sore/jaw pain?

I have a med/large canker sore on my lower left side of my mouth all the way in the back toward my molars. I am also experiencing a jaw pain as well. Has anyone ever had a canker sore with jaw pain before?

I'm experiencing the same thing as we speak. Well, as I speak. Ok as I type. You get the picture.

Anyway, I get these fairly frequently, and they're annoying as all hell. But lately (as in, today) I discovered an amazingly effective remedy: gargle with baking soda (1tsp baking soda/8 oz. water). I have two on the right side of my mouth near the lips and they kept scratching against my teeth and it was horrible - but I've gargled with baking soda three times today and I can't even feel them anymore. Plus, unlike hydrogen peroxide, Canka (or is it Kanka?) and other remedies, it really doesn't hurt. Your mouth feels a little cottony for a few minutes, but that's all.

Good luck!

Yes. This is very normal.Rinse your mouth quite a few times a day with salt water and it will go away really fast.

the canker sore is probably affecting your nerves, causing the jaw pain. If you aren't on any meds, try taking some tylenol or asprin, that should help it and use Ambesol for the canker sore itself.

a form of herpes
gargle with salt water. taste like shet but you will feel better

When I get a canker sore, I usually end up with jaw pain as well. When they're along the side of the jaw (as opposed to the inside of the lip or cheek), the pain can seem to radiate along the jaw. I know that I get them usually as a result of stress, and I have a tendency to clench my teeth too. That could contribute to your problem.

To help speed the healing process, avoid eating tomato products, and try putting alum on it to help dry out the sore faster. Leave it on for about ten minutes, if you can ignore the horrible taste and stinging sensation. Then rinse your mouth. Rinsing with salt water is always a good idea, too.

Yes I have and they can be the most painful. If is stopping you from eating anything then it is time that you go to the dentist. There are over the counter medications that can be used to give you some relief. But it will run its course though some have stated that it is an infection, so mostly likely you probably need to see a dentist or doctor about it. Hope u feel better soon.

They make meds for canker sores Called Kanka It works pretty weell and it covers the area with a protective layer.

I haven't ever experienced both at the same time. Perhaps thery're both a symptom of an underlying cause; or perhaps it's just a coincidence that both problems are happening.

I could theorize that if your jaw is sore, you may be unknowingly, subtly "doctoring" that side of your mouth by not talking the same way, chewing the same way, swallowing the same way, etc. This could be causing a build-up of acidic saliva thus creating the sore. I suppose it could also be a sign of some type of infection that you might want to keep an eye on and visit with a doctor if it gets worse.

May I recommend that you eat a teaspoon or so of honey? Let it sit in that area of your mouth for a few minutes. Honey is known to help canker sores. Preferably natural (raw and unfiltered) honey (you can find at a natural health food store, and even at some regular grocery stores) so that there's less sugar and more actual honey.

I'd also follow it up with chamomile tea--the warm, non-acidic tea will help sooth the jaw pain.

I have had this problem most of my life. I went to a specialist and they suggest that I use MALOX to rinse my mouth with.
The cause of canker sores are acid build up in the blood so using and antacid will help. about three times a day should help relive some of the pain.

I have, I went to the Docter & she said to put oragel on it for the pain it helped. It could at least a week before it would heal. She also said it could have been from putting a lot of strain on your jaw. She also perscribed a paste to help it heal faster,
