Canker sore in the back of my throat! Help!?

I woke up this morning with what I thought to be a sore throat, but upon further investigation, it turns out I have a single canker sore in my throat.

Any homemade recipes or medicines you might recommend to kill the thing?

Take a clove of garlic and one tablespoon of olive oil or cooking oil and chew that till its fine for about 10 minutes, swirling it around in your mouth. Dont swallow it, spit it out. This will rid of cankar sores or cold sores in hours.

This far surpasses any sort of salve you might rub on the sore.

You have my sympathy! That is one of the most painful things ever! Don't be surprised if you feel like you have a earache, too. The sore can affect the nerves that lead to your ear. Start putting Abreva on it right away. You can usually reach it with a q-tip. In the meantime, throat lozenges or spray can help a little. Don't bother with tylenol or advil - the pain is superficial - it hurts when your saliva or food touches it.

get tested for STDs, avoid acidic food & drinks till the wound heals, and practice safe sex.

Cold Sore's are STD related not canker sores. You can get canker sores from bacterial infections, viruses or stress to name a few. If it's bacterial the doc can give you antibiotics. If it's anything else you really just have to suck it up. Take meds to make you feel better and lay off of acidic, spicy foods/drinks. Something else that might help is rinsing your mouth several time a day with warm salt water or something to that effect. I know how much it sucks bc I have several sores at the back of my throat. But they should be gone within a week.
