Anyone with a walking cane?

How long should your cane be? How do you find out what size you should use (at home)?

Your best bet would be to ask a physical therapist or orthopedic specialist.

Not being either, I can only offer what I found from having had to use a cane while my leg healed from some surgery.

I found that the best length was right about midway between hips and waist. The handle was comfortable and allowed me to support my weight more towards the palm of my hand. The can itself was sturdy and could support my full weight, even though it did not have to.
Personally, I would say to find a length you are comfortable with. That should most likely be somewhere just above the point where your and would rest naturally when hanging down at your side. You want to go a little longer then that so you will not be hunched over as you use the cane for support. On the other side of that coin, though, if you go too much longer then you will start developing pain and tension in the shoulders and back from improperly distributing the weight.
