Is candidiasis an STI? If it is, does it result in infertility after a long time before treatment?

what is the cause of candidiasis(a whitish substance or fluid found in the vagina or tongue)? where can it be treated apart from the hospital?

what sort of drugs can be obtained from the pharmacy?

Frustratednurse is right. Yeast is a fungus and can be treated by over-the-counter antifungals such as Monistat. If you use the Monistat and symptoms return you should seek the attention of a physician because it is probably not yeast.

CANDIDIASIS (MONILIASIS) IS A SEXUALLY-TRANSMITTED DISEAES THAT AFFECT THE VAGINA AND THE TOUNGE AND OTHER ORGANS. IT IS CAUSED BY A GROUP OF FUGI CALLED THE : CANDIDA GROUP (MOST IMPORTANT ONE IS :CANDIDA ALBICANS).IT DOES NOT CAUSE INFERTILITY AT ALL...SO DO NOT WORRY.NO NEED FOR HOSPITAL ADMISSION AT ALL AS IT CAN BE TREATED EASILY AT HOME USING EITHER LOCAL APPLICATIONS OR ORAL TABLETS IN SEVER CASES.

This is not a STD..it is yeast..it can be caused by many things including diabetes, illness such as flu's, and other illness's...no it does not cause infertility...but other real STD's do...you need to see your doctor to make sure it is yeast and not something else...they can test for GC, trich, and clamydia...those are STD's that can cause infertility...good luck.
