I want to help children with cancer?

I am a senior in highschool. Two years ago i was diagnosed with hodgkin's lymphoma. I had four tumors and today i am in remission. My dream is to become a pediatric oncologist. As a cancer survivor I will be able to realate to my patients so much better, I feel it is very special to have someone to talk to who has been through it already. Does anyone know how I will get about doing this?

I know i will have to go into school as pre-med studying biology, chemistry, psychology, physics, and other science courses but what about after all that? What should I study in Med school if i get in?

my husband and i donate money to St Jude a hospital for children that have all types of cancer and it is the leading cancer research center for children....u can find more info on line about it ......it's great that u care so much

I do not have any info for you, but i just want to say THANK YOU. my 4-year old was just diagnoised with brain cancer two wekks ago. I think it is great that you want to do something positive with your experience. Good luck with everything.

Most colleges you'd go to will give you an advisor. They'll be able to help you. And if you're still in contact with your onc at all, ask him/her. I'm sure they'd help you out.

Ps. I dont have cancer but i have a fear of brain cancer because i might have it.
