When children with cancer go to children's hosptitals, how long do they ushually reside there? |
(just curious) IT DEPENDS ON THEIR SITUATION AND THE TREATMENT THEY'RE GETTING SOME MAY TAKE MONTHS OTHERS YEARS.... Not all types of cancer makes a child sick enough to be in a hospital. They are only in the hospital if they have an infection that needs to be treated, surgery, or some forms of chemotherapy need to be given by IV and the child monitored for side effects (being in the hospital its easier to control the nausea by direct IV instead of taking pills). So, bascially once a patient is stable and can get up and move around they can go home. A child is only hospitalized if they are sick (fever over 101 generally will indicate some type of infection) .. or if pain is an issue than the pain will be brought under control. |
