HELP: Breast Cancer? |
If a women is detected with an area that is benign in her recent breast examination, will she have breast cancer in the future? Benign findings in the breast are usually not a precursor to breast cancer. It is impossible to predict with accuracy who will develop breast cancer in the future. It is important to continue to have yearly check ups which, if age appropriate should include mammograms, breast ultrasound and clinical breast exams. Instead of trusting this forum with something so important, please check out the information put out by the American Cancer Society website. Some women just have "dense" areas in their breasts. It's not a precursor to breast cancer. If it is a cyst, no. What type of lump is it? Not necessarily. Benign lumps can be caused by dozens of things. My mother in law had one that the doctor said was caused by too much caffeine! Keep an eye on things, especially if you have a family history. But don't worry about it too much. It's possible. Just a note here; if you do get breast cancer DO NOT use radiation. My grandma had breast cancer and just had the breast removed and replaced with silicon; she's 82 and still driving like a maniac. Not necessarily, you just need to make sure you keep up with mammograms and do the breast exams every month. No, not necessarily. You might have fibrocystic tissue which tends to get lumpy. Check out this website. www.idph.state.il.us/] and go to the Dr. and ask if something is wrong or not never be self than sorry let all our us know i am hoping for the best. Benign is not malignant. |
