Is this relative close enough to add to my family history of breast cancer?? |
my mom's cousin sister, who died of bilateral breast carcinoma. Is this relative close enough to me that can be added to my family history of cancer, I am worried because i have fibroadenomas recurring at this age (age 28), had 3 previous benign lumpectomies. No this is not close enough. But you need to have regular check ups. Maybe more often than most women. That is not an immediate family member, but you would be prudent to have regular check ups anyhow No that is not close enough. I would tell your doctor that your mom's cousin had it, just to be on the safe side. It's not close enough to count as immediate family, but the doctor who is treating you for the fibroadenomas should definitely be told about it. Genes are genes. If your mom's cousin had it, you can assume that your mom's family might have a gene that contributes to it! |
