Could it be cancer?

Hello everyone, my mother is very depressed because she received a called today that she needed a biopsy. She's very worried because the doctors believe it's a benign or a lump. What could it be?

It is only natural to be depressed when you receive a positive report on any kind of medical test. It is extremely important that your mom has the biopsy done immediately. The biopsy will confirm or negate if the lump is malignant or benign. The doctor will follow up and prescribe treatment or surgery if the lump is malignant. Tell your mom to try to stay positive until she gets the results; in all probability it is not cancer, but if it is, just be thankful that it was caught in time. There are so many ways to fight and survive cancer. Your mom will be fine if she stays positive and follows the doctor's advice.

The only way to solve this problem is to go in and get the biopsy. Of course she will be depressed and anxious until she gets the results! Definitely encourage her to go in and get checked out. Her doctor would be a better person to answer your questions about her particular case. Good luck!

for now, it's just a lump, until she has the biopsy, NO ONE KNOWS. Your mom is silly for getting all upset now, when she has no clue what it is... it could just be a fatty tumor, and totally benign, no big deal. Tell her not to put the cart before the horse... just get the biopsy done so she has a real answer.

It is just a precaution at this time. Your Mom is in good hands. Cancer is alway scarey but don't worry, she is on top of things. Be strong and comfort her in her depression. It is probably a benign mass.

Same thing happened with my mom yesterday. She was like bragging to everyone though that she might have cancer. It's like she wants it for the attention. I have no idea what it could be, but I just thought I'd share that with you.
