Should euthanasia be an option for people with untreatable depression? |
Why should people have to suffer for years if they can't be helped? What about those who have been through therapy and medication, to no avail? People weren't put on this earth just to suffer. To me, severe, incurable depression is a terminal illness. The difference between it and, say, cancer, is that you just suffer for years and years, but you won't die from it. You just wish you were dead. The alternatives to euthanasia, like the Hemingway method, or jumping in front of a train, whatever, are usually pretty messy and don't always work. Any thoughts here? @Waukeene -- how you ever became a top contributor in this category is a mystery to me. Your callousness is absolutely appalling. Having been through major depression and watching my father suffer for 2 years with major depression, no i do not think that euthanasia should be an option. depression is highly treatable unfortunatley it can take a while to find the right doctor, therapist, and medication. not all doctors out there have expertise in mental illness even some who are supposed to be psychiatrist, psychologists, nurse practitioners, unfortunately my family has found this out the hard way. on terminal illness like cancers etc i do believe in euthanasia...... ~No~ No. To me having to do that to people because they can't deal with their depression or get enough help to fix it or keep it at a bearable level. no..it's still against God's law..if God says it's their time to leave, that's when they die..but if a person with serious sickness still get's to leave even if he/she has a small hope, God still intends sumthing more likely to happen to him or her..for short, because God still has a purpose for that person.. |
