Does anorexia cause high calcium, or the other way around?

Does anorexia cause high calcium, or the other way around?

I was reading something on wikipedia and it confused me. Do you get high calcium levels from being anorexic, or does having high calcium have a chance of making you anorexic?

People with anorexia are malnourished and dehydrated. Dehydration can increase your calcium levels (basic chemistry, decrease the volume of the solution and the solute will increase). On the other hand they can have low calcium because they are not eating and getting nutrients from food. Calcium in itself has no effect in the development of anorexia, it is a psychiatric disorder.

Even if it does, adding vitamine D to your diet would help balace that out. Vitamine D regulates Calcium and Calcium helps regulate Vitamine D. You need a good balance of both to stay healthy.
