Osteo arthritis /calcium?

my step dad has been diagnosed with osteo arthritis.
whats the best foods with calcium for him other than milk and calcium orange juice?
he has it in his spine/lower back.
he is 56 yrs old. how can we determine how much calcium he is really getting?
if he needs 1,200 calcium per day, does like 30% mean he needs 70% more to get his full days requirements????
anyone who really knows, please tell us.
thanks, candy

ostao artrithis is not about calcium..it is a degenerative disease.

See what the Mayo Clinic has to say @ http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/arthrit...

His doctor should be the one to tell him. Also, the healthfood store and pharmacist can tell you

I have arthritis in my knees and elbows. The only thing I have found that works for me is Glucosamine and Chrondroitin with MSM and I buy it at Wal-Mart... it makes the difference between walking with a cain or walking without one... it saved my life.

Osteoarthritis has nothing to do with CA. It is simply a wear and tear on joints. Let him have a normal diet. This is not the same as osteoporosis.
