Women have an increased ability to absorb calcium (and other nutrients) during pregnancy. Why?

a. For any nutrient, when there is a greater need for it, the body adjusts by trying to absorb more of it from the diet.
b. The woman is supplying calcium not only for her own needs, but she is providing calcium to the developing fetus for it's own skeletal growth (and other uses for calcium).
c. A woman loses calcium more quickly when she is pregnant (lost in the urine and feces). This is so she won't become toxic for calcium and harm the baby.
d. All of the above are correct.
e. a and b only are correct.
