Is caffeine GOOD for you?

Ok, so recently I went on this mega healthy kick. No caffeine, no trans fats, lots of vegetables ... you know the deal. The thing is I've been researching caffeine on the internet and it seems to indicate that somewhere between 100mg and 200mg of caffeine a day may actually be very GOOD for you. Some of the articles indicate it may reduce the onset of heart disease, make your liver work better, some even suggest that it will help reduce the risk of alzheimers! Well, if any MD's on here happen to know what is up, I'd sure like to know, because cutting out caffeine was SO hard. I wouldn't mind putting it back in my diet. :P

Caffeine has been reported to be good for you in the ways you mentioned. The issue is that you have to weigh that against the negative. Increase in ALL 'Stress' hormone levels, increase in blood pressure and increase in heart rate.

I admit I am totally addicted to caffeine, but too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

i heard

i'm not an MD or anything but i've always believed 'everything in moderation.' i think a lot of things (not everything of course) can have health benefits as long as they're not taken too much. the problem is the 'correct dose' is continuously under debate for things like this so its really hit or miss whether your actually getting those health benefits or not.
