What's with the caffeine buzz?

What's wrong with America? Is there not enough of a health crisis occuring with all the garbage people eat? What's with this CAFFEINE kick that is mounting? It's getting to be a little scary when drugs can be sold in drinks to our children and society finds this acceptable.

Caffeine is a D-R-U-G. What's with all the cola companies super-injecting volumes of caffeine to pop and these so-called "energy drinks" and other caffeine loaded pops? If it's illegal to sell drugs to kids why is it ok to add it to thier drinks?

Now some goofball scientist came up with the brainstorm idea of adding caffeine to pastries and cakes and bagels, etc.

Do you know that excessive doses of caffeine damages the heart? For people with no health care and the poorest of health in the world, why would you just add to the misery and add this to the arsenal of health-busters? It's ok to make junkies of your kids because it's another way to get you addicted to a product? Society is so gullible.

LOL thanks HCP...well it IS a question with a comment...*S*...and I'm an H2O guzzler too...long since kicked caffeine...was giving me heart palpatations...but if I mention the "products" I'll get the boot...so no products...but they are terribly loaded with caffeine...now they want to put it in our food...shame, shame! :~)

I drink water.....Caffeine isn't good for you. Half of ADHD is due to kids drinking to much caffeine. If you dont buy the junk the companies will go away, problem is people like DRUGS. Just try to educate friends and family the best you can and spread the word! Nice comment...not really a question heh

Yeah it is surprising that companies keep on pushing unhealthy eating with the organic and health food kick that is becoming very popular; espically in the larger cities and highly educated areas. Poor people buy these cheaper unhealthier foods, then they come down with alot of health problems and have to see doctors to get better/stable, so the poor ends up getting poorer due to not being able to buy healther better foods for them. Vicious cycle. Make health food cheaper government! Ok....I'm done...

C Man --- your drinks actually do have sugar in them, by the form of sucralose or also know as splenda... Our body just doesn't process it as sugar b/c it is artifical and not natural, so your right it doesn't spike our blood sugar. 80% of it goes right out in the feces and 20% is actually absorbed and then excreted by the kidney. I'm not a big fan of artifical sweetners but if your diabetic it is defiently a safer way to go then natural sugar. While the FDA has approved it I'm still not convienced that it isn't causing some health issues. But just look at the environment, there are natural flowing streams of water, what we need to survive, not flowing streams of artifical drinks. I could be wrong...

There are energy drinks out there that don't have caffeine in it. I think the addition is the caffeine but also the bitter taste of coffee. And yeah you are right that it is addictive like a drug and people need it to stay up or they get tired and get headaches. I think if people switch to decafe slowly they can kick the habit. Energy drinks like XS has non caffeinated drinks

They have no sugar in it so you don't get spiked on that either. I drink those more than coffee. I'll drink coffee with dinner occasionally but never in the morning. I got addicted to tea one time and it wasn't good.
