Caffeine such a good thing.. right?

im 13 and addicted to caffeine. is that a bad thing? i mean its not a huge drug or anything. will it hurt my health? i've even heard theres some benefits of caffeine. how old were you when you got addicted to caffeine?

(cofee, soda, tea)

Im 14 and got addicted to caffeine since about the age of 2 or 3... I used to have coffee every morning in a little baby cup... I still love caffeine and always will... it is good in the morning to wake you up, but if i drink it at night i cant sleep... now caffeine can get addicting so try to keep the amount you drink kinda low... but i have never really noticed a problem with caffeine... i mean if i get 12 cans of dr. pepper i can drink it all in about 2-3 days... but watch out with the amount you consume...

its not really bad for you i guess but i have been drinking coffee since i was like 5 and now i cant drink coffee cause of the high levels of caffiene and it tears my stomach up. just make sure that if you drink a lot of pop to cut that down cause you can gain a lot of weight on that stuff.

Caffeine is super unhealthy. It's a powerful drug that puts your nervous system into shock and upsets your hormone levels. It's also linked to heart disease. So yeah, it IS a huge drug and it WILL hurt your health. You just don't hear about it often because most doctors are also caffeine addicts.

I have recently cut caffeine. I hardly ever, if at all, drink carbonated drinks (Coke, etc.) because of other issues. I cut the caffeine because I noticed a direct connection between making cramps worse. It is a stimulant (like Speed!!!), and can have some serious side effects if you overuse it.

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about it:
Overuse
In large amounts, and especially over extended periods of time, caffeine can lead to a condition known as caffeinism. Caffeinism usually combines caffeine dependency with a wide range of unpleasant physical and mental conditions including nervousness, irritability, anxiety, tremulousness, muscle twitching (hyperreflexia), insomnia, headaches, respiratory alkalosis and heart palpitations. Furthermore, because caffeine increases the production of stomach acid, high usage over time can lead to peptic ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. However, since both "regular" and decaffeinated coffees have been shown to stimulate the gastric mucosa and increase stomach acid secretion, caffeine is probably not the sole component of coffee responsible. There are four caffeine-induced psychiatric disorders recognized by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition: caffeine intoxication, caffeine-induced anxiety disorder, caffeine-induced sleep disorder, and caffeine-related disorder not otherwise specified (NOS).

u should definitely b trying hard 2 get more sleep because there's no substitute for it!! and even if ur not tired, u can still b sleep deprived on coffee. but th fact is, it's nearly impos to get 8HOURSANIGHT!! so coffee sure helps me.

the biggest benefits proven for coffee is that if u have at least a cup a day most days, your memory when u get older is significantly increased.

hope it helps

i hate to have coffie beacuse i know it is bad and stuff i just dont like it as well i do like ice coffie

i drink lots of cokes like 2 cans a day somtimes 3-6 but normaly 2

but i somtimes have a break from it every few weeks for a week or 2

I like my caffeine fix in the mornings, but I'm careful not to overdo it during the day. Recent research suggests that drinking brewed coffee in moderation may be beneficial for the heart, but taking too much caffeine can give you heart palpitations. Take my advice and try to cut down now - you might regret it in later life if you don't.

Personally I'm not addicted, I don't drink soda, coffee, tea, etc., and I wouldn't recommend drinking it, but I guess here and there won't do any harm.
