Increased effects of caffeine?

A medicine I am taking says the following:

"Avoid large amounts of caffeine-containing foods and beverages, such as coffee, tea, cocoa, cola drinks, and chocolate, while taking this medicine as the effects of the caffeine may be increased."

At first I read this as caffeine will increase the chances of side effects, so I thought that meant I couldn't have chocolate.

But then I re-read it and realized that it is saying that the effects of CAFFEINE will be increased.

This does not sound like such a bad thing to me. :p All I want is one piece of chocolate. Would that be okay?

One piece of chocolate should be okay. The medication says to avoid large amounts so you should be okay. If in doubt, you can always call the pharmacist or your doctor..

yea it would be fine. I forget how it goes, but caffeine take the place of some calming substance. Too much coffee will make you jittery and you'll find your self not being able to sleep well. My guess it that this effect will be amplified.

One piece of chocolate is fine. What they dont want you to do is drink 5 cups of coffee because it might be like drinking 10.
