Caffeine withdrawls?? |
I am trying to ween myself off caffeine. I have been feeling nauseated on and off and if I drink a pop it goes away. I really want to change my eating/drinking habits so I am healthier, but even though I am trying really hard I feel like I am failing because I hate the withdrawls and the only way to get rid of the sick feeling is to chug a pop. I used to drink 6-8 pops a day...(no coffee). I am down to only 2-3 per day. How long does it take your body to adjust? I also take medication for migraines and I want to ween off of those too. I think my migraines were mostly caused by too much caffeine. I want so much to be free of meds/caffeine. Any suggestions to make it easier? IF U TAKE MIGRAINE PILLS OTC THAT WILL HELP WITH WITHDRAWLS! THATS WHAT I USED AT IT WORKED PERFECTT!! GL I think I remember a friend who went through detox saying that they recommended apples for the shaky/nausea feeling....but I don;'t remember if it was green apples or red apples. I started out making tea half caffeine/ half decaf. switch to tea and then slowly start drinking less. It may not be just the caffeine you are having withdrawals from, but the 12 teaspoons of sugar per can! I used to get migraines a lot. I now have just 1 or two small cups of coffee with a dash of sugar in them, drink lots of water, eat lots of fruit and veggies, and take Omega -3 (EPA & DHA) and Omega-6 (GLA) fatty acid supplements. I hardly ever get a migraine anymore. When you feel nauseous it is your blood sugar crashing. Now that you are down to 2-3, I say quit cold turkey, it will be ok in a day or two. |

It would be better if you gradually reduce your caffeine intake each day. Just quitting will make your body have withdraws. The headaches you are experiencing are and indication of this. Check ... i have worked for an ob/gyn x 5 yrs and have never heard anything about caffeine and birth control. caffeine is a drug and needs to be limited anyways.. anti biotics interfere w/ birth control bu... Its always a good idea to cut back on caffeine... I would do it slow.... give your body sometime to adjust. ...I really do not believe that it is the coffee/caffeine that is making you crash. From the sounds of it, it probably doesn't have a thing to do with it. The reason YOU are crashing and feel... Caffeine is a stimulant, and causes an increase in metabolic rate.
