Caffeine withdrawal headache? |
I haven't had regular coffee except decaf in a couple of days to cut out my caffeine intake, and I have a MAJOR headache that's lasted for hours. Any advice on how to deal with the caffeine withdrawal? I popped two Tylenol Extra Strengths a few hours ago, still hasn't helped. I am trying to quit because in couple of months I am going to be trying to conceive and I figure I might as well quit coffee now because morning sickness PLUS caffeine withdrawal might not be such a good idea LOL As a person who has given up caffeine several times in my life (only to go back, but that is another story) I can tell you that if you go about four days with no caffeine you will get a headache that lasts about five to seven days. This is a special headache that aspirin or the like doesn't seem to help. Your best bet is to have some caffeine, and ease yourself off of it slowly. Use something like Excedrin, which has Tylenol and caffeine in it. It will pass in time. Ice pack on the back of the neck. well if you arent trying to quit then drink some coffee... that happened to me when i thought i didnt need it. a few days later i realized that behind my coffee addiction was a huge headache waiting for me so i'll never try to quit again. nothing but caffeine will help...the headache can last another day or two for you...you should have cut back slowly...you could have started by drinking half caffeinated/half decaf for a couple of days, then reduced it bit by bit. Are you trying to quit coffee? I had to for my health and I went through Caffeine withdrawal really bad. Really there isn't too much you can do, but drink a lot of water. Also if its really bad then have a small piece of chocolate, chocolate has caffeine in it but if you have small piece it should stop your headache. |
