Caffeine addiction?

Wondering if you have one, or have ever had one before? If you've had one before, what did you do to get over it? I drink an ungodly amount of caffeine every day and trying to quit, but the headaches and moods are so bad. Obviously the only way to get over this is time, but in the meantime, is there anythng that helps relieve these symptoms?

My normal caffiene intake is around 3-4 cups of coffee in the morning, 2 diet cokes throughout the day, some sort of chocolate maybe, and most days a Sugar free Red Bull (large one). Seems like a lot to me.

I also dont sleep that much, that is the reason for the need for caffeine. I get around 5 hours most nights. Have 2 small children. Just giving details in case they might help with answers. Thanks in advance.

I realize that I shouldnt drink so much, that's the point, but it truely is a serious addiction. Im not drinking as much, but the side-effects from not drinking are so terrible. Wondering also how long these headaches and mood swings will last?

bring it to 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning keep the 2 diet cokes and keep the chocolate. give your body 1-2 weeks to get used to it then cut out a diet coke. keep the rest. again 1-2 weeks. drink only 2 cups of coffee in the morning keep the rest wait 2 weeks cut out the diet coke and replace with a piece of fruit, preferable an oragne or apple. and reduce the size of the Red Bull.

after a few more weeks remove the Red Bull and have another piece of fruit.

so in the end it should be 2 cups in the morning (try switching to green tea anti-oxidents are good) and 2 pieces of fruit and keep the chocolate.

hope things work out.

Stop drinking so much!!...instead drink water .....dont drink fruit juices too coz they hve a lott sugar in them!!!!!
gud luck buddy!

Hmm... I'll admit, i've never really thought of it as an addiction...
I drink insane amounts, and get very few hours of sleep myself(no kids, I just don't sleep well)... but i've been doing it for years...it's just the way I live.
As do (to my knowledge) thousands of other people in the cities.
I wouldn't worry about it (i'm not)..

I have had one even though I am only twelve for a while I was addicted to coffee colattas ( I obviously spelled that wrong but who cares!!! )!!

you could try slowly weaning yourself off the caffiene, try swapping 1 cup of coffee for say geen or mint tea, then 2 cups etc, then maybe swap the chocolate for barley sugars or something similar. eventually you won't even miss it. i know its hard, i've been there too, mine was over the counter pills that i used for nightshift work and before a workout. they were loaded with caffeine, add chocolate and red bull plus cups of tea thoughout and theres a combo that makes ya buzz.not good after a while!! wish you luck. ;)

young girls and gin may be the cure
