How to replace Caffeine?

My job requires that I stay alert and in a good mood all the day. I quit coffee three months ago. Caffeine is a mind-accelerating mood booster. Is there any food supplement or herbal tea that would do the same thing as Caffeine without the side effects of Caffeine?
Some people suggest drinks or juices with sugar, but high sugar intake is not a choice for me. I take multivitamins and ginseng as well and did not see any difference in boosting energy or mood.

The most popular energy boosters are B-12, Royal Jelly (and other bee-based products), L-Carnitine, Ribose, Ginseng, Guarana and Green Tea (both are natural sources of caffeine).
However, if you are wondering about non-pill things, you could also try listening to music, taking a walk on your breaks, or finding a hobby that you enjoy that you can do at work (like puzzle books or card games if you're at a desk).

I've worked in a couple different call centers and I was often bored within a month after starting. I ended up finding 5 different hobbies that I could do at my desk including cards, books, crafts, hand-held electronic games, and puzzle books/magazines. I figure, with 5 options, I won't get bored with any one of them very easily ;-)

If you want something that gives you a chemical boost but has not side effects, good luck.

My advice is to find something that gives you pleasure, like you really enjoyed coffee, but the caffeine is no good, try decaf!

by using a replacement

The first thing you should consider is how much caffeine you need to replace. Did you start your day with a small cup of coffee, or did you drink cup after cup all day long? One of the first steps I would take is to cut your former intake in half. Then cut it in half again. As with any substance, it is easier on the body to wean off. If you could get your caffeine intake to a reasonable level, you might find it solves your problems---allowing you to feel alert at work while also letting you sleep and avoid the jitters.

You did not mention why you eliminated coffee from your daily diet, but unless you are aiming for complete caffeine-free living, just try starting your day with a cup of superbly brewed coffee and enjoy it. Any "substitute" will just be a monkey on your back eventually anyway.

I don't know any supplement or tea that really replaces caffeine, but you can try to keep yourself in movement - it usually makes you more alert and in a better mood.

You know, don't stay suited too long, or move your arms and legs, and so on.

The most impressive fact I've seen in this area is Anthony Robbins - he doesn't drink coffee and stays 16 hours on his feet and fired up, sleeping 5 hours per night.

It's said that his secret is that - keep moving.

And before you think or ask, yes, because of the kind of people who attend some very exclusive seminars he runs, he has voluntarily taken drug test and the results have been negative.

Anyway, it doesn't hurt to try.

Godspeed !

B Complex would probably be the first place to start. The B vitamins are very important to many functions including energy.
Take 2 x a day, not close to bedtime - for obvious reasons.

I found most people who get off caffeine notice a marked improvement in natural energy and alertness after initial withdrawal. You could be talking about something more than just a general need for stimulant here.

How is your diet? Do you have other symptoms? Maybe you need to address Adrenal Function with a good adrenal cortex supplement.

Sugar is not a good idea, since it causes the same crash and burn after initial boost. Eat more protein, less carbs for sustained energy levels. Make sure you do breakfast, not a Twinkie and a coke either! A good protein lunch, and protein snacks during they day. Get plenty of rest - bed by 10, up by 7. Drink plenty of filtered water - which can also affect energy levels.

It would be best to address the route issue, not stick to the mind set that there is a miracle pill or stimulant out there.

Try yerba mate

Convenience stores sell these

and
stackers

or the energy drinks they sell

Don't take them in the evening before bedtime and don't take more than the recommended dose.

Stackers really wired you out when it had ephedrine in it but it no longer has ephedrine.

B complex is really good for mental energy and beating fatique too.

If you need stimulants to feel happy and alert, you may have a little adrenal fatigue, check it out at: adrenalfatigue.org

The adrenals produce your stress hormones, if you are under stress for too long, or heavy stress, your adrenals get tired, they start under producing the stress hormones the body needs. You than feel depressed, fatigued and many other symptoms, that if handled quickly, will disappear as the adrenal function improves. The longer you wait, the more run down the adrenals will get, unless the stress is released and the adrenal are able to recover, before more stress comes.

There are many herbal formulas out there to support the adrenals, they may give you energy, or they may make you tired, as your body requires rest to heal the adrenals (take at night for a better nights sleep).

I take Christopher's Adrenal formula call (801) 485-4500 (not toll free), it's helping me, I feel better and more alert, as long as I sleep well and don't over exert myself. If I take caffeine it stresses the adrenals and I feel tired and can hardly move.

Hopefully this gives you different ways of helping without sugar, caffeine and other stimulants.

Did you try Siberian Ginseng? Herbs take a long time to work, so you have to be patient. It could take months.
Also, is your overall diet good? Lots of protein (meat, cheese, yogurt, eggs, nuts), and vegetables.

Ginseng tablets and Genko plus tea!!! it gives you alot of enerjy without any caffeine try it and you shall see

also excersizing in the morning/day time gives you alot more energy.. and crunchy food in the morning wakes you up x

An excellent source for you to look at is www.carlshealthhelp.com/energy
