Do MRI/ or CT scans cause tooth breakdown like my dentist says? |
Do MRI/ or CT scans cause tooth breakdown like my dentist says? NO. Your dentist uses the same type of ionizing radiation a CT scan uses when he does a panorex (albeit, a smaller dose). The magnets and radiofrequencies of MR should have no bearing on your teeth. I think your dentist is CRAZY! I have NEVER heard of this - if it were true, there would literally be thousands of people suing the makers of these machines for their dental bills. I don't believe this is true. a CT scan uses radiation just like the x-rays used in a dental office so I'm not sure what your dentist is getting at. an MRI doesn't use radiation. They're two totallyu different kinds of imaging machines. |
