My doctor said my CT scans came back normal, but he wants me to see a Neurologist. Why? CT scans are not sufficient to diagnose a condition or lack thereof. They ONLY are used to supplement a patient history and physical exam. Many times, that exam is best done by a neurologist, in the case of a CT of the brain. But, by itself, the scan doesn't tell you much. I mean, if you see a big honking pool of blood around the circle of Willis than, yeah, that is pretty meaningful (of course, the fact that the patient will be, ummm, unconscious is also pretty meaningful). But, it is rarely clearcut. Ask your dr Not enough information. Are you having severe headaches, dizziness, seizures? There are many reasons to see a Neurologist. He feels there may be something else or he feels he does not have the expertise to give a final diagnosis. Basiclly he is covering his *ss. Be glad because this way you are getting top notch health care. I go to a Neurologist because I have epilepsy. What kind of symptoms are you having? Always ask your doctor and if he or she won't answer then get another doctor. Its the pain your having. Correct? Your doctor doesn't have any answers so he's sending you on to have your nerves checked, which is likely why you have pain. |
