Can you have Appendicitis even if it doesn't show up on the CT scan?

I was wondering if one can suffer from Appendicitis even if it doesn't show up on the CT scans and the bloodwork is fine? Thanks in advance.

I don't think so. When I had appendicitis my blood work showed a massive increase in white blood cells because of my body trying to fight the infection. If blood work shows an absence of infection, then it is likely not appendicitis.

yes

If your bloodwork is fine, then no. It's possible for something like that to not show up on a scan, but if you have appendicitis, your white cell count must be elevated, unless you are immunosuppressed. So if it's normal, you don't have it.

i think so

It is quite possible for appendicitis to not show up right away. Sometimes the pain is all over the abdomen and doctors will start testing everything from the gallbladder to spleen to liver. This happened to my x-husband. On his fourth day in the hospital the pain finally localized and he was rushed into surgery. Fortunately for him the peritonitis hadn't spread very far.

Sometimes docotors make things more complex than they should be. The best thing is to know your own body.

Now if you are having abdominal pain that comes and goes, it could be your gallbladder. An ultrasound can help diagnose that.

Good luck!
