Rash from CT Scan contrast?

I has a CT scan (commonly called CAT Scan). They used the contrast injection.

I have developed a sereve rash on my entire body. Small red bumps, almost flat in some areas, raised in others.

Has anyone else had this reaction? I also ate asparagus for the first time in my life, so I dont know where to place to blame. CT Scan on Sun, Asparagus on Thursday, Rash started Saturday.

Its very itchy, and almost looks like chicken pox, but not its not blistering or scabbing or anything.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I don't think you reacted to the contrast agent being used as you would have broken out in the rash right after the injection. Did they ask you if you were allergic to Iodine ? If you had said yes, they would not have used the contrast agent.

I'll bet it was something that you ate, ( or a new soap or shampoo ? )

Then it wasn't the contrast. If you had it on Sunday and the rash didn't appear until Saturday--a week later--no way. You would have had an immediate reaction if it had been the contrast. So you're fine there. And it's not the asparagus, either. That would have been immediate, too.

It could be an infection or a severe allergy--but not to those 2 things. You do need to see your doctor. But call them first before you go in. You need to tell them you have an unexplained rash so they can keep you away from the other patients until they find out what it is--in case it is contagious.
