CT SCAN Question..?

I asked a question about lung cancer and I did some research online..I was told that I needed a chest ct scan because they noticed a 5mm non solid spot on my lung..I was worried but I feel somewhat at ease. I am 25 and I smoked for 6 years and I am now done with that mess...My question is this,,can they tell if this is a scar from a ct scan? I had my stomach scanned and they found a stone in my track area and they then noticed this on my lung..I was really upset and I feel helpless but not sure about the size which is really tiny and the fact that I was diagnosed with walking pemonia last winter...So could this be a old scar? Or a tumor? What is the difference etc...?

Thanks for your time and support it means a lot to me! Especially on a Friday night.

It's entirely possible it could be a scar. It could also be a benign soft tisue nodule. They should be able to tell from the CT scan what it could be. It's possible that they will use iodine contrast to better enhance the tissues to help determine if it is inflammation, scarring, or a mass. If they determine it needs further evaluation, they might want to do a biopsy of the tissue to make sure it's not cancer. If they want to do a biopsy, don't consider it a definite sign of cancer.

when I had my ct scan they could tell if its a cyst (and what kind) tumor and scar tissue (the works) they also used a contrast dye that shows up everything....
