CT Scan for Gall Bladder, Seriousness?

I had a CT Scan of my Gallbladder last night. My Doctor thinks that my GB is inflammed or that something else may be wrong with it. I had severe pain in the GB area two mornings in a row, a week ago and the pain still lingers in the mornings and when i sit up from laying down. If there was something wrong on my catscan, would they have informed me right there at the hospital? or even if there is something wrong, do they just forward the information to your doctor leisurely?
It could just be muscle pain, but a lot of my symptoms lead me to believe its my GB. When my dr. put his fingers under my ribs, he felt swelling. I had nausea bad for 5 days, diarrhea, fatigue and a monstrous pain on the right side of my sternum.
Doctors, Nurses, please help!

The radiologic technologist performs your exam, and that exam is interpreted by a radiologist (the doctor). On many occasions, the patient is long gone before the radiologist even sees the images from a CT scan. So, if something were wrong with you, you probably would not know it when you left the imaging center. But, if the radiologist sees something on the images that needs immediate attention, he will call your referring physician within about an hour.

Remember that an imaging facility provides a service, but it is your doctor's responsibility to provide your care. It would be like saying a lab would let you know about abnormal blood test results....it doesn't happen!

Best wishes to you....I know that gallbladder attacks can be extremely painful.

Acute cholecystitis is inflammation of the gallbladder that develops over hours, usually as a result of cystic duct obstruction by a gallstone. Symptoms include right upper quadrant pain and tenderness, sometimes accompanied by fever, chills, nausea, and vomiting. Abdominal ultrasound detects the gallstone and sometimes the associated inflammation. Treatment usually involves antibiotics and cholecystectomy (removal of gallbladder).
Please see the web pages for more details on Cholecystitis.
