Renal failure and chf?

my husband has renal failure and i believe chf. his bun is 65 and creatine was 3.9.that was a week ago. do you think he could e close to death. his dr said he may live a month.he had 12%kidney function in jan. i am very concerned for how to explain this to our children.and to prepare them

Kidney failure need not lead to death. There are many options including dialysis or a kidney transplant. Most people lose their appetite and begin to have nasuea and vomit. They can also build up edema (swelling). The doc should have discussed dialysis as an option, and you should go to the nearest unit and speak with other patients and family members who have gone through this.

These values are really not very bad, moreover they need to be compared with older results to get a proper idea of the situation. I wonder how the doctor told you what you said he told. Certainly he knows better, may be there are associated problems.
I feel sorry for you and your husband and wish you all the best to get over the situation. How about a second opinion?
Good luck!
