Why everytime i say i have cfs /m.e i get abuse ?

okay i have cfs, and everytime i mention it on here i get some kind of abuse, i didn't ask for this, i had a 'normal' life before any of this
i'm not feeling sorry for myself i'm just wondering what makes cfs so different that people feel they can say hurtful things about it

is it chronic fatigue syndrome. Just ignore the hate and abuse some people are plain nasty just take it with a pinch of salt and dont take it seriuosly but im sure there it is over shadowed by the amount of people who actually are nice or understanding.

If it is that my sister had it and she is fine but it takes along time to get better.

I don't even know what it is, and I'm an RN. Sorry for the abuse, but some people are just plain cruel.

maybe i'm thick but i don't know what cfs is
what i do know is that alot of people on here should
just be ignored try it

For those who don't know, cfs=chronic fatigue syndrome.

A lot of people assume that it's an imagined disease, and that nothing's wrong with you.

A friend who suffered from it had elevated white blood cell counts, so in her case there was a physical cause, albeit unknown.

In reality most people don't believe you. It's equated with laziness, or lack of desire. Most people with "CFS" have a physical problem, and it can be treated, but watch out, many in the medical profession will treat you with scorn, so beware.
An old friend of mine developed CFS, as did his son. It took him many years to deal with it, and deal with it you must.
He solved his problem with goat's milk, go figure.

u have my sympathy good luck

I have it as well and I can definitely sympathize with you. Just because we don't look ill doesn't mean we aren't,and anyone who doubts us can **&&^%$&&&*&&& PISS OFF!!! Don't judge us until you've lived a day in our shoes!!!(sorry about that outburst,if I've offended anyone then I apologize most profusely)

I feel sory for yu, ignore the nasty comments others make. My best friend was diagnosed with cfs 2 years ago when entering university, had to drop out and is still suffering badly with it now. I wish you all the best.

whats cfs?

ME/CFS is one of the conditions that the general public have decided are 'imagined illnesses'. Amongst many others are 'depression' (pull yourself together) and back pain (malingerer).

Because CFS is a syndrome not a disease or disorder. there is no specific testing just test to exclude other conditions. Because there is no definitive answer as to what it is or what causes CFS people get really nasty about it.

It is not only a very real problem, but many people suffer from it. it is like having PCOS (poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome it is a grouping of disorders that have been linked. testing is difficult and treatment is a diabetes medication called glucophage.

I was ill quite a lot and felt like i must be a hypochondriac. i was finally diagnosed and since i have been on medication i have not been sick once. come to find out it is an endocrine problem called leventhall stein disease.

it takes lots of money and research to diagnose and confirm these types of illnesses. I wish you the best. .

I'm sorry you have had to go through this hassle as having this illness is hard enough to cope with when you have support.

A lot of people used to call this illness 'yuppy flu' as it was mainly yuppy's who were burning themselves out and other people didn't understand as telling someone you are tired usually ends up with them snapping at you and telling you that so are they and they arn't complaining about it.

What i would recommend is explaining that it is a brain and muscle illness(as this is what the name of M.E. translate into) and if ,say at work, they want more details a great book that generates understanding is called "living with M.E" written by a doctor Charles Shepard.

Unfortunatly people are always cruel about things they don't understand.

Lift your head up and know that you are dealing well with something they will never have the strength to. You know when your doing well because you are getting out of bed.

Stuff them my Love. You will be just fine.
