Have extremely high blood pressure. tests, bloodwork, ultrasounds,cat scans, mri's, no answers?

I am 30 years old, weigh 125 lbs, now. I lost 22 when i got sick. I don't do drugs and I work out and eat healthy. I ended up in the hospital with blood pressure of 280/145, the ER gave me nitroglycerine to stop a heart attack. I am currently taking 60 mg of lisiniprel and they did ultrasounds, bloodwork, cat scans, mri's, the works during my ten day stay. No answers from anyone. I have a 7 yr old daughter who is very worried. if you have any suggestions, please feel free to send it! I hate living like this. My 7 yr old daughter is getting the crappy end of this. Wow! If you eat healthy then there's really no logical explaination, other than genetics or very high amounts of stress, for your blood pressure. I never had blood pressure issues until I got pregnant with my daughter. Mine was 200/110. Thankfully, with medication it's under control. I hope and pray that someone can help you. It may be hereditary. Try exercising and a reduced sodium diet. You may even have to try being an organic vegetarian. Good luck!

Gosh you are rather young for such a high pressure. Would suggest that perhaps Lisinopril is not the med I would choose to take, it is not usually chosen by cardiologists as a first line medication and I am surprised they gave it to you. Discuss the use of Micardis/hctz with your cardiologist, it works quite well.
In addition I would like to suggest you start taking Co-enzyme Q-10, 150mg daily. This is a natural product, inexpensive and is used as a front line treatment for blood pressure in many other countries. Not here, because being a natural substance, the healthcare industry can't make any money off of it, so they don't espouse it's use. But since I started using it, my blood pressure dropped from 150/90 to 118/68!! Taken in conjunction with an effective medication, it works very well, there are also many other good effects from this substance for the body. I suggest you research it yourself on the web. There is lots of good information out there.

Most high blood pressure is "essential" - a medical term for "it just is, and we don't know why".

It is not unusual for all the testing to come back negative. All that did was to rule out things like hyperthyroidism or some certain kinds of tumors as the cause of your hypertension. (it's a GOOD thing that you don't have a tumor)

You will likely need to stay on medication for the rest of your life to control your BP. It's a pain in the butt, but the good news is that there are LOTS of BP medications, so if you have side effects, there is always something new to try.

It's also good that you are thin and exercising. I assume that you don't smoke (and if you do, quit now! Your life depends on it)

You are very young to have such high BP, but it can be controlled and you can live a normal life. Keep on top of it, and you will do fine. Reassure your daughter that there are medicines to help, and that you will do what you need to so that you'll stay healthy. If she sees you exercising and taking care of yourself, it's more likely that she will do the same for herself!

do you eat alot of salty foods? or does ot run in your family? stressed? different meds? all these are factors for high blood pressure, try to avoid salty foods, drink alot of water, see if it runs in your family also.

I really have no answer for you. I just wanted to say I'll put you in my prayers and remind you to carefully watch what you eat and drink. If you smoke try to stop (I know easier said than done). I wish you good luck and hope you find a answer very soon for both you and your daughter. nursee poo
