Cat scans? |
Do cat scans of the brain detect tumors? Yes,CAT scans will detect brain tumors. They will give you an injection in your arm and if there is a tumor,it will appear as a white mass.As someone above stated,An MRI is more sensitive and may be ordered if the CAT scan does not give a clear result. If you are a diabetic,be sure to tell the technologist before the scan. Ask the doctor. I think they could, if the tumor is large enough to be easily detected. You would need to have a dye that crosses the blood brain barrier, but if you had a head CT, I am sure they took that into account. A CAT scan is the quickest scan of the brain (takes about 15 minutes) and it will detect lesions of the brain. |
