CAT scan???????

2 weeks ago I went to the hospital for a missed period, bad abdominal pain and fever. The doctor told me he figured I had a cyst burst because when they did an ultrasound they seen some fluid in my ovaries. The figured I missed my period because of a skipped ovualtion. The fever was due to me starting the flu. Now..my family doctor calls me and tells me he wants to do a CAT scan..it was on my answering machine so I didn't get any details. How serious is this? Went they sent me home from the hospital they made it seem like everything was fine...now that my doctor has all the info from them he wants a CAT scan?

Ignore jerks-CAT scan is good tool to rule out things and is really just a very good X-ray-just get it done quickly so you know if anything needs treatment or if nothing needs more treatment then that is good to know too. Just had one myself and glad I did.

Don't worry he is just trying to see more into detail why you had the abdominal pain.

CAT scans test to see if you have cancer, tumors and the like. I am sure you are ok, but you should get one just to make sure for your health. If there is a problem, and catch it early, its better to treat it then, then later on. My girlfriend had cancer twice, and thanks to the CAT scan they found it on time. So good luck to you !!

you should not worry, see the answer above. The medical people are just being very cautious when the ultrasound reveals something .Good luck and try not to worry.

not really a big deal unless you are claustrophobic

Don't worry too much...they just want to get a better look...please call you doctor and ask all the questions that are concerning you. I had a cat scan once as I kept having horrible migraines...it was done as a precaution and in the end I found out all was okay.

uhhh.. catscans aren't really big deals uhh.. i had a cyst and i needed one in 2nd grade... and i had the die injected in me and i broke out in hives because i was allergic... they just need to make sure.. you are Ok.
...

He's probably just being safe. You know, doctors get sued alot these days if they miss something they should have noticed, so they are just super super careful, even more than they have to be.

I am sure the cat scan can pick up details the ultrasound can't and they want to be careful.
