Blood in Urine, Cat Scan prescribed? |
My doctor has found blood in my urine, I took antibiotics and still blood, now the doctor is sending me for a cat scan and more extensive tests on urine. Should I be concerned? He probably just wants to rule out kidney or bladder stones or any cysts or tumors. Sometimes blood in urine is idiopathic (they don't know why it is there), sometimes some sort of physical stress to the kidneys could do it (like maybe repetitive chopping wood, etc)...they can test for cancer cells in the urine..I had it done and they found nothing, so no need to worry before you have to (I had been chopping wood). Blood in your urine could indicate problems with your kidneys. Sometimes, it's just a bad urinary tract infection. I wouldn't worry, but follow-up on your tests. Ask how long results take to get back to your family doctor and then make an appointment to discuss the details. you probaly have kedney stones and if there so small the dr may not have picked them up- i had a friend w the same problem she had blood in her urine for about a month in a half b4 they found the stones. Probably kidney stone, just worry about up coming pain yes After the cat scan they should be able to tell you what is going on. Blood in urine call hematurina,if same time with protein and white cell, first consider infection. After antibiotic treatment if hematurina Persis then need to find out other illness cat-scan to r/o tumor, kidney stone, next may need IVP and cystoscopy to direct take a look the whole system;including the bladder.some people has hematurin and found nothing wrong of the system. I don't think you need to be concerned as in worried. There may be something more than infection going on and your doctor wants to find out what it is. Whatever it is, infection, calculus, whatever, it's most likely very treatable. |
