Why did the E.R. Doctor give me a cat scan for a chronic fever? |
He took a cat-scan of my head. Any ideas? I would have taken blood work instead but hey, i'm not a Doctor... yes I have a headache and am dizzy, I just thought that was from the fever but I guess it makes sense... Headache, nausea, vomiting, fever for 2+ days or fever over 106 at any given point (it will cook the protiens in your brain like an egg) all indications for a ct scan....it only takes a few minutes and better to be safe than sorry and miss something right? You must have complained of a severe headache, dizziness or some sort of vision problem or balance problem in order to get a CT scan of your head. A fever would not be an indicator for this test. He probably ordered the CAT scan to make sure you do not have an intracranial bleed, fever notwithstanding. What were the CT results, and did they do blood work? A fever usually raises the white count and can indicate a source for your fever. |
