66 year old female...had cabg 6 months ago...now has unstable angina...weakness...not eating..?

doctor says nothing else can be done but keep her comfortable....how long does she have? she is in severe pain daily lasting only 5 minutes at a time...losing a pound a day...short of breath...requires help with bathing and many other daily functions...

Did you take her to a Cardiologist? No one should have to be living that uncomfortably. Make sure to take her ASAP and make sure it's the specialist. Keep going to someone until they do something about it.

see doctor

Get in touch with your doc immediately & have her go to the ER. They can get her the immediate help she needs and refer her to more permanent care. Any hospital that accepts federal funds is obligated to treat you if you show up in an emergency. She could last a while with good care.

Coronary artery bypass surgery, also coronary artery bypass graft surgery and heart bypass (colloquial), is a surgical procedure performed on patients with coronary artery disease (see atherosclerosis) for the relief of angina and possible improved heart muscle function. Veins or arteries from elsewhere in the patient's body are grafted from the aorta to the coronary arteries, bypassing coronary artery narrowings caused by atherosclerosis and improve the blood supply to the myocardium (heart muscle)

One complication of the said surgery is Graft failure leading to myocardial infarction.Graft failure occurs due to occlussion of the graft place. The causes of occlussion are due to development of atherosclerotic plaques from diet and also when an individual is predisposed to developing blood clots.

Treatment options are aimed at revascularizing the occluded graft either by placing a stent (if it can be salvaged). If not the cardiothoracic surgeon and cardiologist would have to decide on doing a Redo CABG.

Did you get a second opinion? I really don't think this type of question is good for this venue. This doesn't seem to fit the story. I have a lot more questions to come up with an anwer.
