my bypass done before 7 week? whether it will be benificial to me to consume liquer daily one or two smoll peg to increase my HDL colesterol? To put this real simple for you, you need to not drink alcohol at all after a bypass surgury simply for the fact that your body needs to heal and cannot do so if it has alcohol in it. You need to feel blessed to be alive and not worry about drinking. As far as alcohol increasing HDL, I have never heard of that. HDL is your good cholesterol and you want it to be higher than 45. Smoking cigs lowers it, as does drinking and having a sedentary lifestyle. Exercise, ( according to your doctors restrictions), eat oatmeal, dont smoke, dont drink, and your HDL will increase. Consumption of alcohol may not give any benefit. Try to reduce salt, fat and oils in your diet. It seems that you are addicted for alcohol. Consumption of alcohol in moderate quantity is not that bad. The items we eat along with the alcohol is very bad for CAD. Do not drink with soda. Take it with water or neat with ice cubes. It would be better if you refrain from it. If at all not posible to stop all of sudden, reduce gradually and then stop. You are too young andalready had one bypass. You should take care of your health at least now. Yes. Actually in stomach after meals, an ounce of alcohol is produced which causes drowsiness and sleep. That's why a short nap after meals n the day is recommended. nothing at earrth increase HDL except excersises and very few red wine weekly... You live in such climate that you won't die if you do not consume liquor. Better to renounce it and save your life and your family's life as well... Drinking too much alcohol can raise the levels of some fats in the blood (triglycerides) (tri-GLIS'er-idz). It can also lead to high blood pressure, heart failure and an increased calorie intake.
